What Football means to us #FootballPeople

This year has been very different due to covid-19 so we have been celebrating #FootballPeople online through zoom and socially distanced outside. Here are some of our thoughts about what makes football great. Thank you Farenet for supporting us during #FootballPeople.

“Football is the only language that the whole world understands. It is the language of communication that unites all creatures and nationalities in one cooperative team dominated by love and respect.” – Fabien and Fahad

“Football is not meant for one group of people, it is not just for professionals. Football is entertaining!” – Levi

“Football is competitive, lovely and fun with no age limit!” – Mo
“Football is a way of having fun with anyone regardless of their backgrounds. It is a way of making friends and having shared feelings.” – Endalk

“Even if you don’t know how to play football, you know how to kick the ball and it’s good exercise.” – Dennisse

“Football is life because when I play I forget everything, everything sad, I focus on the ball” – Saman

“I enjoy football because it unites people and brings friendship with different people from different countries” – David

#FootballPeople 2020

We had a great afternoon of socially included (distanced) football fun for #FootballPeople weeks – It was so nice to bring some of our footballers together, to see lots of smiles and laughter! Thank you Farenet for supporting us during #FootballPeople.

Week 1 Crowdfunder Update

Week 1 Update:

Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared our Data Fund Crowdfunder – it is very much appreciated. Our initial target of ยฃ500 was beaten in just 3 days which was phenomenal. We have now reached ยฃ1320. We have already started distributing the data to asylum seekers so that they can access classes online and keep in touch with family and friends. Currently it looks like pandemic restrictions will be with us for a while, so it is brilliant to be able to support everybody’s health and wellbeing in this way. Thank you again!

Our Tablets have arrived!

We are excited to receive these tablets from the Connecting Families scheme. Thanks to Good Things Foundation & BBC Children in Need for donating. They will allow families to support their children to access educational resources & provide guidance to them to stay healthy & safe online #FixtheDigitalDivide๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿฅฐ

If you know a family with 2+ children that would benefit please refer them here: https://forms.gle/Php4JskXBWihu8wU9

Data Fund Crowdfunder!

We are raising funds to provide internet data for refugees and asylum seekers so that they can stay connected and learn online during the pandemic.

Show your support by donating here: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/data-fund

The Covid-19 epidemic and data poverty has greatly affected our service users, who were already suffering from isolation and post traumatic stress disorder. We are currently providing a remote service to keep our users and volunteers safe. For the foreseeable future, this is taking place online, with English classes and one to one support. However, to participate, people need to be able to access the internet.

For this reason, we are raising funds to help combat digital poverty and to purchase internet data for asylum seekers and refugees, so they can continue learning English and stay connected with friends, family and essential services online.

Your support is very much appreciated!

Free Tablets for families with 2+ children

Do you know of a family that needs help getting online? We are distributing FREE tablets with 24GB data from next week to families with 2 or more children. Please use this link to refer families to the scheme: https://forms.gle/EryEwXDLGQsTaBVj9
