Thank you to everyone who has voted for us in the OneFamily competition and for sharing the competition with your friends and networks. It is very much appreciated!

We received 850 votes in total, which is amazing, as it shows how much people care – thank you!  

When voting closed we were in 6th place, so we think it is unlikely we have won, as competition was strong. However, we are continuing with our mission to renovate the building and will be looking at other avenues.

A big thank you to ZOO Digital in Sheffield for donating some much needed items of furniture to Learn for Life. Here are a few of the items that have arrived this week:

After coming on work experience at Learn for Life Staceyleigh and her friends decided they wanted to do more to help refugees and asylum seekers who studied with us. They have been busy fundraising with help from the Salvation Army and today brought a car full of gifts for our students and Learn for Life. Thank you Staceyleigh, it is very much appreciated!

We have begun to use some of your crowdfunding money to carry out much needed improvements in the centre. Below is our newly painted kitchen and toilets with new floor:

It is with great sadness that we have to tell you that Beth, who has been volunteering at Learn for Life for over 7 years, passed away on 3rd November. Beth was an amazing person, full of fun, kindness, love, joy and personality. She was beautiful both on the outside and inside with a big heart. She gave so much to Learn for Life and we will always treasure and remember her. We all miss her very much as she leaves a big hole in our Learn for Life family. Our thoughts are with all her family, friends, students and everyone who knew her. 

We have been shortlisted in a national competition with OneFamily.

Today we welcomed Julie MacDonald who’s the current High Sheriff of South Yorkshire. There is a High Sheriff in every county in England and Wales, and their history and tradition goes back before the Norman Conquest. The Office is the oldest Royal appointment. 

Julie talked to and answered questions from some of our Level 1 and 2 students this morning. Thank you for coming to see us!
