We have been awarded funding from People’s Health Trust using money raised by HealthRich through The Health Lottery. Our project, Step Forward, is over 2 years and is to set up a welcome group and activities for new arrivals and local community members. The project is targeting individuals from conflict-ridden countries around the world who are housed in Sharrow as well as already established local residents. We aim to reduce social isolation, mental health issues and depression through the project.
Over the coming months we will be having speakers, outtings and activities such as sports, a film club, singing, reading and arts and crafts. The project has a committee and we are welcome to suggestions from local people and service users about activities they may be interested in running or taking part in.
As part of the project we will be creating a “New to Sharrow” booklet with essential information people need who have just arrived. If you would like to get involved in the project please email info@learnforlifeenterprise.com.
Activities will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3pm.
