Scarborough Trip

On Saturday we took a coach trip of 50 students and volunteers to Scarborough. We enjoyed a picnic in the park, volleyball on the beach, a look around the town and a walk up to the castle. We looked at the boats in the harbour and paddled in the sea as well as having a dance and going on a few rides in the funfair. It was a fun day but with retrospective moments too as the sea brought back memories of people’s journeys to Europe across the mediterranean sea. They said how they enjoyed seeing the sea in a positive way now. Below are some photos from our visit and there are more available on our facebook page here.

Singing and Dancing at Grindleford

On our trip to Grindleford we enjoyed a bit of Eritrean singing and dancing!

Padley Gorge Trip

Thanks to the Northern Refugee Centre’s Finding Our Feet project we were able to fund a trip to the countryside for 30 students and volunteers. We took the train to Grindleford and then had an enjoyable walk to Padley Gorge. It was a fantastic day with lots of laughter, a picnic, English practice and fun. Mela at U-Mix

The local community in Sharrow had a Mela for Eid, at U-Mix, where we do football training. Some of us went to have a look at what was going on and to practice English conversation.

We took our Entry 2 class to Mount Pleasant Park to look for signs of Spring as part of their lesson today.

Learn for Life visit the Queen

On Thursday 2nd April HRH Queen Elizabeth II visited Sheffield Cathedral and the Town Hall. A group of students and staff went down to the city centre to see her and enjoy the experience. Below are a few photos we took. There are more available on our facebook page – click here.

Eyam Trip

We went to Eyam on Thursday and had a lovely time looking around the village and exploring the surrounding countryside.

Creative Writing visit to Northern College

The Creative Writing group went to Northern College for a day course and we had a lovely time exploring the grounds and getting inspired. Thank you for having us Northern College.
