We are now providing ESOL classes as part of Sheffield City Council’s Welcome to Sheffield project for the Syrian refugee resettlement programme and Gateway protection programme. Free morning and afternoon classes are available at beginner and intermediate level with bus passes and refreshments.

Last weekend the social-clubbers of Sheffield danced the night away in support of Learn for Life. Thank you to La Luna Social Club for organising the fundraising event and choosing Learn for Life! Thank you to everyone who came – you raised £582 for Learn for Life.

Our #FootballPeople Tournament

On Saturday we held a tournament for #FootballPeople week. We are very proud of Learn for Life United who got into the finals after winning 2 games. Thank you to Cornerstone Day Centre & Safe Haven, Doncaster Conversation Club, Good Things Foundation, Sheffield City Council and Mount Pleasant Park FC who all came to play. Everyone Thrives Online

We are running the ‘Everyone Thrives Online’ project funded by the Good Things Foundation and Google. The project aims to help adults achieve positive life and work outcomes, particularly around employment, by supporting them to understand how digital skills can change their life, and give the practical skills and knowledge to build their confidence to do so. Lloyds Banking Group Digital Inclusion Project

We are delighted to be continuing our Financial Inclusion project funded by the Good Things Foundation and Lloyds Banking Group. Do you want to feel more confident about online transactions and managing your money?

Participants can come along to our drop in sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays from 11am. You will be supported to complete courses about Managing your money online which will help to increase your understanding of how you can control your finances online, as well as how you can save time, money and increase your confidence in carrying out online transactions safely.

Health and Well-being Support Hub

We are running a health project in partnership with the Good Things Foundation and the NHS. The project is about supporting people with their health and well-being. This includes things such as accessing the NHS online, finding appropriate NHS apps, accessing forums for support, booking appointments online, making repeat prescriptions, accessing activities in the local area, confidence building and accessing the internet for hobbies.

A trip to the General Cemetery

Today we went to the General Cemetery. We enjoyed looking at nature and also found the grave stone of Samuel Holberry, who was one of the original Chartists fighting for equality! More photos are on our facebook page here.

Fire Safety Fund

As part of our Fire Safety Fund project funded by Electrical Safety First participants have created some posters in community languages including Tigrinya, Latin Kurdish, Arabic, Chinese Mandarin and Spanish.
